Our Flock
It all started in early 2023 when we were gifted 3 adult ducks.
Those cute waddles got me hooked; and today we have a mixed flock of 27 hens. Most purchased as ducklings, some hatched here, and a few were taken in as their owner was no longer able to care for them.
Duck breeds in our mixed flock include: Golden 300 Hybrid (5), Khaki Campbell (3), White Layer (3), Grimaud Pekin (3), Jumbo Pekin (3), Ancona (3), Silver Appleyard (2), Welsh Harlequin (2),

What started as a hobby has grown into a full-blown duck operation.

Duck Life
During the day, our flock has access to plenty of food, fresh water, snacks, and a pool (weather permitting).
Ducks are great for pest control and enjoy foraging for a wide variety of plants and bugs. They LOVE being out in a rainstorm, as that’s when worms surface.
In the evenings we herd the ducks into the ‘Quack Shack’ and secure them for the night. This ensures they stay healthy and are safe from nocturnal predators. Since domestic ducks cannot fly, they are ‘sitting ducks’ to fox, coyotes, raccoons, owls, weasels, and mink; all of which are most active during the night.
